I often paint from my memories, rather than from nature or still life studies. I put logic and practical rules aside; to allow my inner mythology to emerge and guide the work. Often the images are related to my own dreams. I have the ability to recall my dreams in vivid detail. Other objects in my paintings may relate to the collective unconscious, which hopefully will ignite the primal memories of the viewer. It is my wish to evoke an emotional connection with the viewer.
I have lived and traveled throughout the United States, and have traveled twice to Japan to study art and culture. I have a Masters of Fine Art Degree from the Pratt Institute of Brooklyn NY. Born and raised in New York, I felt drawn to the Southwest for fifteen years before relocating to Arizona in 1995. I work in both acrylic paint and oils. I have also worked in clay, specializing in sculpture and non utilitarian ceramics.
